What should I bring?

La Fonda Ranch has a full lodging facility, complete food and linen service.
The only things that will be required of the hunter are the following.

  • Clothes and personal items
  • Gun and ammunition
  • If you desire to keep the meat from your trophy, please bring adequate, ice chest to transport your game.

South Texas is generally a hot dry climate, and most of the hunting seasons take place in warmer months of the year. Occasionally the mornings and evenings can ten to be cool and a light jacket maybe required. However, during the Dec/Jan months of deer season the temperature can reach the low 30's and cold winter gear is advised.

What is a typical hunting day at La Fonda Ranch?

The morning begins with your wake up call for the early morning hunt. A continental breakfast, juice and coffee are available for those who need something to tide them over until they return. Upon return a huge South Texas breakfast menu will be served. Following breakfast you are welcome to continue the hunt or take advantage of some of the other opportunities the ranch offers.

  • Catch and release fishing
  • Swimming

A lunch is served, and the evening hunt followed by a Western Gourmet dinner and lights out.

What type of food is served? What if I have a special dietary need?

Dietary needs, if you have a special requirement then please make plans accordingly to be sure that you are taken care of. The meals are served buffet style and prepared for all of the guest at the ranch therefore if there are certain things that you would like to see on the menu please let us know when you book the hunt.

All meals served at LaFonda are professionaly prepared and presented by our world-class kitchen staff, the menu ranges from authentic tex-mex, to the finest in steaks, fish, and poultry. It is what we affectionately call South Texas Gourmet.

If I shoot a deer where do I go for processing and Taxidermy?

If you desire each trophy can be prepared for the Taxidermist and processors before you leave the ranch. La Fonda has a full service taxidermist available and can handle any and all of your needs in wall hanging your trophy. There are a number of quality processors in the area, and La Fonda would be happy to recommend one. You will need to make plans to transport the carcass at the time of departure.

Are firearms and ammunition provided or do I need to bring my own?

Each hunter needs to bring the firearm and proper ammunition of his choice for the hunt.

The best time to come to La Fonda Ranch is NOW! La Fonda is a year round facility with outdoor adventures and family fun available year round.

Do I need a license and where do I get one?

You will need a Texas State Hunting License and proper stamps and tags according to the season. Even if hunting exotics or non-game animals, every hunter in the field is required by law to carry a license. Each guest is responsible for providing the required Texas hunting license. You may also purchase your license online at Texas Wildlife Web Site.

How do I pay and what kind of deposit is needed for reservation?

To secure your reservation a deposit of the room and board is needed thirty days before the hunt. And final payment of all trophy fee's etc. will be required upon checkout. We accept payment in the forms of cash, credit cards and checks that have been approved by check scanner.
